Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually in February or March in the Gregorian calendar.
The main activity on this day is lantern watching. The Lantern Festival is still held every year throughout the country. "Guessing lantern riddles is also an important part of the festival.
If the visitors have the answers to the riddles, they can pull out the paper and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will receive a small gift. People eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also called the "Yuanxiao Festival".Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan.
These are small balls of glutinous rice flour. What's more, the Chinese pronunciation of tangyuan is similar to "tuanyuan", which means reunion. So people eat them to signify unity, harmony and happiness for the family.
